Level Up Your Game

This quick tool will help you find the best pickleball paddle to level up your game. It doesn't matter if you're new to pickleball or a seasoned pro, this tool will help you find the perfect paddle.

Skill Level

Beginners, Intermediate or Advanced?

The first step is to identify your skill levels;

  • Beginners: They have an opportunity to learn basic strokes while engaging in friendly rallies.

  • Intermediate players: Once you've played for some time and gained some skill in the game, looking to enhance control and consistency is your goal.

  • Advanced: Your aim as a competitive player is finding paddles that allow for power as well as finesse when performing strategic volleys or smashes - these paddles may come equipped with paddle anatomic features that enhance those capabilities for optimal play.

Paddle Anatomy

Understanding Key Features

Pickleball paddles may appear straightforward, yet their components have a significant bearing on how you play:

  • Paddle Weight: Lighter paddles (7.5-8.2 oz) offer greater maneuverability for novice players or those prioritizing control; heavy (8.4-8.8 oz) paddles provide additional power but may lead to fatigue in aggressive play styles.

  • Paddle Core: The core material has an enormous influence on the power and feel of paddle shots. A thicker polypropylene core provides better control for gentle shots while thinner cores (aluminum or composite) deliver greater pop for harder drives.

  • Paddle Surface: Paddle face materials influence ball feel and spin. Paddles featuring smooth composite faces offer the ideal blend of power and control, whereas fiberglass surfaces may provide maximum power output while textured ones provide additional grip for spin.

  • Grip Size: A comfortable grip is key for optimal control. Players with larger hands often require larger grip sizes to prevent cramping; try paddles in person until you find one with which you feel secure and natural.

Selecting Features

That Suit Your Skill Level

Once we understand the core features, let's discuss how they translate to various skill levels:

  • Beginners: For optimal control and maneuverability, look for a lightweight paddle (7.8-8.2 oz), made of polypropylene core material with an increased sweet spot for consistent shot-making - such as the BRS Spectra - available from Baseline Pickleball Paddle section.

  • Intermediate Players: As your skills advance, paddles that provide both power and control should become attractive options for exploration. A midweight paddle (8.2-8.4 oz), with medium-thickness core material composite construction and smooth composite face can make an excellent option; visit our Pickelball Online Shop for some inspiring choices!

  • Advanced Players: For optimal power and precision, look for a paddle (8.4-8.8 oz), featuring an aluminum or composite core and fiberglass surface - such as our MATRYXX Unibody Performance Paddle designed specifically to take your game further.
